The Ballenger family together again (These photos were taken back in August during our visit to Tulsa)

November 2005

The months of September and October have been very busy months for us and for V.E.T. Net. We have had many shuttles here. We have had five veterinarians from America, one from Australia, two from England, an American dental team of four, one pastor, one nurse and one businessman - all from America. Many of these shuttles have ministered most of their time in the countryside. Several stayed here in Ulaanbaatar sharing their expertise in our small animal clinic.

The dental team was here for eight weeks. They divided their time between various places in the countryside, the prison and working on the teeth of our Mongolian V.E.T. Net. What a blessing the dental team is each year!! There is so much pain and suffering in the mouths of Mongolians. So what an awesome blessing it is to have Bill and Peggy, Earl and Floy come and relieve so much dental pain. Bill and Earl were later joined by an American Pastor, male nurse and businessman and all spent one week in one of the men's prisons in the countryside. This is a step of faith since the security within the prison walls are not very good and there are over 350 prisoners whose crimes range from petty theft, to grand larceny and murder! But once again, the physical needs were met as well as spiritual needs as the team was able, along with our Mongolian V.E.T. Net team, to treat mouths and share the Good News. Several prisoners accepted Christ and are now starting a Bible study within the prison walls! Lives were touched and changed throughout the time that the dental team was here.

Introducing Riann to a family tradition of waffles after church

The veterinary teams have touched the hearts of Mongolians as well. Dedicated veterinary shuttles have left behind their busy practices or faculty positions to bless V.E.T. Net with their veterinary expertise and spiritual guidance. One of the veterinarians, whose first trip was here seven years ago, was able to follow-up with a veterinarian he had witnessed to in 1998. This year, 2005, he was able to lead him to the Lord!!!! This Mongolian veterinarian is presently a very influential veterinarian throughout the country and we pray that as he grows in the knowledge of God's Word, that he will be able to impact many Mongolians with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He has already asked Richard to be available to answer his questions as he starts learning Christian foundations within his own church.

John cooked a wonderful dinner for us (Riann helped also)

Veterinarians from the different aimags (states) throughout Mongolia continue to come to our training center for a week of veterinary continuing education (CE). They are always so grateful for the teaching, and the drugs and equipment that they receive. It always amazes Richard and me when they thank V.E.T.Net for caring. Often times we hear them say that never in the past has any group, including their own government, ever paid any attention to their needs as veterinarians or to the needs of the herdsmen in the countryside. They continue to refer to the love which they feel from each V.E.T. Net team member. They just don't realize that it is God's love reaching out to them. The love of God is chasing after each one and drawing them to Him!

During the CE week, we offer evening activities to the participants. This is strictly optional; however, most everyone stays. During one of the evenings in the week a Mongolian pastor discusses evolution vs. creation. During one of the recent sessions a veterinary participant exclaimed, "Why has no one ever told us this before?" Questions like that make us realize how important this work is. We are in a nation hungry to learn about the one true living God. We are so privileged to be here and be part of a team who has a passion to share the Good News.

During this season of Thanksgiving, we thank you for making this possible by supporting us with your prayers and finances. Your encouraging notes, emails and letters really help us as well.
Thanking Him for you,

Richard, Mary, George and Sally Anna
