Richard with the finance department
during the V.E.T. Net Christmas Party

January 2006

Tsetsegee came running into the Bible study exclaiming "I almost missed it!" Of course she spoke in Mongolian so I did not understand the impact of what she was saying until later.

One of the many outreaches of V.E.T. Net is an English class to the Mongolian veterinary school. This is exactly how V.E.T. Net started ten years ago when Gerald and Frances Mitchum starting teaching English to veterinary students. The English class grew into a Bible study. At that time several young people accepted Christ and the Mitchum's nurtured them and those young people are among the leaders of V.E.T. Net today. So ten years later and many English classes later, there is a Bible study which has started out of the veterinary student English class. I help by teaching the Bible study portion while several of our V.E.T. Net members lead the discussion groups. During the month of December, I have been teaching the Christmas story and emphasizing the purpose of the Jesus coming to earth… Matthew 1:21 "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." When I ask the question, "Why did Jesus come to earth?" they point to themselves and in a loud voice exclaim, "To save me from my sins!" Many of the Bible study members have already memorized John 3:16 and Matthew 1:21 in both Mongolian and English (remember they come from an English class).

At the end of each of the classes I give the students an opportunity to talk to me or one of the leaders afterwards about accepting Christ. No one had done that so far, but I knew that God has been really tugging on their hearts for several weeks.

Now, back to my story about Tsetsegee…. Tonight, she comes running into the Bible study. Evidently she had fallen asleep after her class at vet school and had a dream that she was accepting Christ as her Savior. She woke up with a start and was so scared that she had slept through the Bible class. Of course, I did not know this until in the middle of the Bible study she raised her hand and exclaimed "The reason I came tonight was to accept Jesus Christ as my Savior and I want to do that now." Wow! I had never seen this happen! Well, Tsetsegee along with two others accepted Christ and one other had us pray for him to be able to share Christ with his family this coming New Year weekend. He left with a new Bible to leave with his family and of course the new believers all received a new Bible tonight. They were truly transformed tonight and left with joy which I had not seen in them before. What an exciting night this has been! This is the exact reason we are here.

Mary with the English Bible study class. Three of these girls accepted Christ right after Christmas!

Last week V.E.T. Net had their annual Christmas party. This was for our V.E.T. Net staff and spouses. After I shared the answer to "Why do we celebrate Christmas?" one spouse accepted Christ for the first time and three others rededicated their lives to Christ to be assured that they would go to Heaven after they died. Now, that was exciting as well. God is definitely in the midst of exciting things.

Once again we have had certain drugs locked up by the government. This included our new shipment of Rabies vaccine which arrived June 21 and had to be tested by a Mongolian lab. This is always a test in patience and many other things that we are all trying to learn! Anyway, for all you veterinarians who are reading this imagine running your veterinary practice without rabies vaccine, especially in a country where rabies can be a problem. On December 23, 6 months later, the Mongolian inspector came into our offices and unlocked the drugs including the rabies vaccine!!!! What a wonderful Christmas present that was for all of us as well as our clients! Richard even gave the two inspectors each a box of candy and with shocked looks on their faces left with a smile. We pray that V.E.T. Net is slowly building relationship with the inspectors so we can share eternal life and not just candy! Thank you for praying.

George Bush is waving to George and Sally and their school friends

After reporting on these praise reports I am at a loss of what else to say. Everything else seems so trivial. Even President Bush coming to Mongolia on November 21 can't top the reports of people committing their lives to the Lord! George and Sally were able to see President and Laura Bush from a distance and President Bush even pointed and waved to them. Of course, they, along with other friends from school, were in the crowd waving the American Flag and yelling, "We love you President Bush!" It was an awesome opportunity for George and Sally who have a great respect for President Bush and have a new perspective of America since living in a third world country. It was truly a special day for George and Sally and one they will never forget.

We had the joy of talking with John and his girlfriend, Riann, on Christmas day. John spent the holiday with Riann and her family in California so I know that he had a great time. He is currently stationed in San Diego and Riann is in her last year of Bible school in Tulsa, OK. Please continue to pray God's protection over both of them. John may be assigned to an aircraft carrier in June, but we do not know that for sure. Please pray Psalm 91 for him.

We pray that you will have a blessed and prosperous 2006. Thank you for your important prayers. Without your prayers we could not do what we are doing. Please pray for George and Sally to finish out their school year very good. George is still praying about what to do upon graduation from high school in May 2006. He wants to enter the film arts/media field and is praying about either a four year college, a trade technical school or working in the industry for a year or so. He wants God's perfect plan and is praying for God's direction. Please pray with him. God has given him many gifts in this area and he wants to use his gifts wisely.

We appreciate each of you so very much! Happy New Year!!!

In His Service,

Mary for Richard, George and Sally
